NC Women Business Owners Hall of Fame will honor NC women who have made a significant impact on the business community
RALEIGH, NC– MARCH 1, 2018
Wendy Coulter, President-Elect of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) – Greater Raleigh Chapter, a local avenue for women entrepreneurs of large and small businesses to connect with their peers, has announced the chapter will launch the NC Women Business Owners Hall of Fame to honor North Carolina’s most successful female entrepreneurs and advocates who have made significant and enduring contributions for women’s entrepreneurial development in North Carolina. Nominations are open through April 30, 2018 at https://ncwbohalloffame.org/. This initiative is in coordination with NAWBO-Charlotte, the SBA, and many other North Carolina organizations.
“According to the American Express 2017 Women Owned Businesses Report, over the past 20 years (1997–2017), the number of women-owned businesses has grown 114% compared to the overall national growth rate of 44% for all businesses. Raleigh, NC is one of the top ten cities showing the highest employment vitality — employment growth rate from 2002 to 2017 and average numbers of employees,” said Coulter. “It is so important that we recognize the women trailblazers in our state’s entrepreneurial community who have made this possible. Our goal is to empower women to open and grow businesses, as well as advocate for women as significant contributors to the business community in our state.”
Inductees to the NC Women Business Owners Hall of Fame must meet the criteria stated on the website. Consideration of potential inductees requires that their efforts, accomplishments and impact be documented and widely honored.
A gala to honor the inductees will be held in Raleigh, NC on Thursday, June 14, 2018.
